Breebreebran Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 I have to find the intersection position and time between two cars. But I am only given some data. Car A: Acceleration = 0 Initial position = 0 Initial velocity = 40m/s Car B: Acceleration = -2m/s^2 Initial position = 4000 Initial velocity = 0 I have no idea how to use these numbers to my advantage. Any help?
Ophiolite Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 You can express the distance travelled, s, for each car. Now equate the two expressions and solve as required for the unknowns.
imatfaal Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Further to Ophiolite - and in common with almost every question here - draw a diagram. What does the problem mean to you? You can help to understand it better when it is down on paper in front of you with arrows, rough scales, and directions. If nothing else it will give you an answer space - ie it is clear where the cars will not intersect
