tsolkas
Conclusion It is essential to conduct the J.P. Cedarholm – C.H. Townes experiment (1959) on a moving vehicle relative to the Earth’s surface in order to establish whether the Theory of Relativity is accurate or not. Otherwise, we will never be able to say with certainty that the Theory of relativity is true, no matter how many experiments are performed and verified. Consequently, if the J.P. Cedarholm - C.H.Townes experiment (1959) is performed (using an experimental device that is in motion relative to the surface of the Earth) and it yields a POSITIVE result, then the Theory of Relativity (Special and General) is 100% FALSE!!!! Spyman
Why would Cederholm J.P.-Townes C.H. Experimental Test of Special Relativity be better than the Michelson-Morley experiment? Why would it make a difference if it is performed on a moving vehicle or fixed on the ground? The Michelson-Morley experiment was performed in 1887 by Albert Michelson and Edward Morley at what is now Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. It attempted to detect the relative motion of matter through the stationary luminiferous aether ("aether wind"). The negative results are generally considered to be the first strong evidence against the then prevalent aether theory, and initiated a line of research that eventually led to special relativity, in which the stationary aether concept has no role. The experiment has been referred to as "the moving-off point for the theoretical aspects of the Second Scientific Revolution". Michelson-Morley type experiments have been repeated many times with steadily increasing sensitivity. These include experiments from 1902 to 1905, and a series of experiments in the 1920s. In addition, recent resonator experiments have confirmed the absence of any aether wind at the 10−17 level. Together with the Ives-Stilwell and Kennedy-Thorndike experiments, it forms one of the fundamental tests of special relativity theory. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michelson%E2%80%93Morley_experiment Conclusion: The theory of Relativity has been confirmed in every test and is now considered as a cornerstone of modern physics. The predictions of special relativity have been confirmed in numerous tests since Einstein published his paper in 1905, but three experiments conducted between 1881 and 1938 were critical to its validation. These are the Michelson-Morley experiment, the Kennedy-Thorndike experiment, and the Ives-Stilwell experiment. /snip/ Those classic experiments have been repeated many times with increased precision. Other experiments include, for instance, relativistic energy and momentum increase at high velocities, time dilation of moving particles, and modern searches for Lorentz violations. Also general relativity was confirmed many times, the classic experiments being the perihelion precession of Mercury's orbit, the deflection of light by the Sun, and the gravitational redshift of light. Other tests confirmed the equivalence principle and frame dragging. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theory_of_relativity#Experimental_evidence
tsolkas
. Ether The entire universe is filled with Ether. Ether consists of positive electrins +qo and negative electrins -qo. It is the means of propagation of light and apparently of all electromagnetic waves. Ether is the light and light is Ether. Etherʼs positive and negative electrins, +qo and -qo, are attracted by various celestial bodies by electrogravitational forces and thus each celestial body is surrounded by its Etherosphere. The Ether that exists in the universe is nothing more but the “dark matter” as it is commonly termed today. Finally, the so-called “dark energy” or vacuum energy is simply the energy of Etherʼs positive and negative electrins, +qo and -qo. more, url removed Edited September 29, 2012 by swansont No advertising

You did not answer my questions, can you explain how your proposed hypothetical Ether can avoid detection by above measurements and why experiments on a moving vehicle should? Klaynos
For historical context... http://www.scienceforums.net/topic/30413-tsolkas-or-einstein/ GPS is a very good continuing experiment on both special and general relativity. GPS works, the theories are correct within their expected domains.

JohnStu
the idea of ether is a bit arificial. Positive, negative are human ideas.
Spyman
For historical context... Ooh, that's why the name sounded familiar, after a google search I found this very similar OP: THE "EGG OF COLOMBUS" THE GREAT ERROR OF PHYSICISTS!!! If, the J. P. Cedarholm - C. H. Townes Experiment (1959) is carried out exactly as it is on a moving vehicle (e.g. on an automobile, train, etc) then it will be instantly proven whether Ether exists in Nature or not. Unfortunately, this very simple Physics experiment has never been conducted to this day and this is a great error on the part of physicists!!! Why, therefore, isn`t this very simple Physics experiment performed so as to demonstrate once and for all whether Ether exists in Nature or not? Question: Could there be a reason for its not being carried out? more...url removed From the very old thread (2006): The Great Error Of Physicists!!! swansont
Conclusion You shouldn't start and end with a conclusion; this is a forum for discussion. Mentioning an experiment without giving a reference is poor form.
