alt_f13 Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 I cannot hear anything above 14kHz anymore. Even just a year ago I could hear well above 15k. Am I screwed, or is there any way at all to improve my range again? Knowing that sound will never be as crisp as it once was is extremely disconcerting. It's just so cilia.
alt_f13 Posted December 13, 2004 Author Posted December 13, 2004 Tone makers. You can download them, and if your soundcard is good enough, you can generate sine waves up to 22kHz. It's no theory. [edit] And your sound hardware has to be good enough as well.... most headphones and speakers people have on their computers ain't that superb.
5614 Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 its just a thing which happens as you get older.... no need to show off you audio system... although it does sound quite cool
alt_f13 Posted December 13, 2004 Author Posted December 13, 2004 Lol. I've said nothing about my audio system. It's not very good at all... I just have nice headphones. 22kHz can be achieved on any new computer with a good headset. Not expensive by any means, but every gamer should have one. [edit] I'm gonna be first in line for aural implants when I'm older. Down with deafism!
Tesseract Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 Hmm, i got the tone generator, got up to 22khz and I could still hear something! BTW I have an awsome audio system and soundcard.
NSX Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 My old engineering prof said the same thing as 5614. Oh well, what do you miss @ 14kHz anyways?
MolecularMan14 Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 Do you have a link for a tone generator? Sounds cool, and Ive got some reasonable speakers, so I'll give it a try.

Lance Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 Thats what I did. I got up to 16khz before my speakers crapped out.

Lance Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 I have a Compaq Presaro with AMD Athlon 1700 and an integrated sound card. Some soundmax crap.
Gilded Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 Hope this doesn't affect your music making alt. :/
