Bettina Posted December 18, 2004 Posted December 18, 2004 I want an Xbox, and "Dead or alive 3" I've been a good girl.
Babbler Posted December 19, 2004 Posted December 19, 2004 My mom said that if I pass all my courses, she get a new computer ! (I need one: I got my current system in 1999, and even then were subpar). Beyond that, maybe some books, Civilization III: Conquests and/or some other game and an electronic organizer.

budullewraagh Posted December 26, 2004 Posted December 26, 2004 my friend couldn't get me gallium from the lab where she works
Gilded Posted December 26, 2004 Posted December 26, 2004 "my friend couldn't get me gallium from the lab where she works :(" If I ever visit NY I'll give you some if you don't get any by then. ) Now then, what did I get? Btw, we Finns get the presents during the 24th, so a day earlier than you guy. Mwah. - A really cool and big periodic table poster - Guinness World Records 2005 - (I'm getting to borrow a freaking mega-expensive Geiger-counter, which is sort of a X-mas present) - The Half-Life 2 accessories that came earlier, which my dad hid from me and kept them until the 24th >:/ (Including HL2 soundtrack I'm listening to right now, a HL2 hat, three posters and so on) - Miscellaneous more or less necessary stuff
slickinfinit Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 I got my new vid card ati xt8000, new powersander n spray painter for work (awsome) and a awsome dinner with family I hadnt seen in a while all in all good, but when I heard over 20,000 people died the day after Christams in that sunami in S.E asia I lost a bit of joy.
YT2095 Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 well I got to test my new metal detector and have already found a bent nail, some Alu foil, and the alu foil coating that keeps a wine cork in place ok, so I`ll not get rich that way, but it WORKS! and it did say how deep and what metal it was before I got to work digging I`m Most Impressed! My Wife gets a Special Thank You
5614 Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 tells you what metal it is???? how does that work?
YT2095 Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 I`m not altogether certain how it does it, the onboard computer must have some sort of algorithym that takes into account different BFO feedback, and then do a rough lookup on a table? other than that I`ve no idea, the LCD readout looks like it wouldn`t be out of place on a Star-Trek set though
Gilded Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 Heh, I could use a detector like that. Now I however got the radiation monitor, so there should be something to do for a while... just can't find anything fun to measure.
5614 Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 just can't find anything fun to measure. come on dude... look in your own thread!
Gilded Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 "come on dude... look in your own thread!" The things mentioned there are currently rather inaccessable to me. Btw: http://www.kellycodetectors.com/minelab/GP3000.htm Yum yum, gold detection to the max. )
YT2095 Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 this detector has Discrimination and Notch filtering for just such a thing! with specific defaults for Silver and Gold too
MulderMan Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 ive been looking at a metal detector in maplins and it said something about ferrous, non-ferrous differenciation, maybe thats what it is. "other than that I`ve no idea, the LCD readout looks like it wouldn`t be out of place on a Star-Trek set though :)" dont be silly we have tri-corders for that!
YT2095 Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 dont be silly we have tri-corders for that! LOL ) actualy this one was from Maplins too, it`s the 3010/GC-1010 model. costs about 80 quid.
5614 Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 just be careful with maplins, as good as they are a few items can be a bit of a rip off, so just check first! e.g. RAM and plug adaptor leads, you know those ones which make one plug socket into 6 or 8 or something
YT2095 Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 I agree, it`s like most places though, it pays to shop around
MulderMan Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 yes i know maplin can rip you off with many items! it was just that i had the "half price sale!!!" catalog posted through my door.
YT2095 Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 so do I, regularly. and that`s the best time to buy stuff do you REALLY think she paid 80 quid for this? HELL NO, I pointed it out and said "I WANT!" )
