budullewraagh Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 yeah you could use carbonate instead of the sulfate. yeah, perxenates are absurd for us to think of
Gilded Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Have perxenates even been manufactured in larger quantities? I read somewhere that barium salts can form interesting intersitial compounds with perxenic acid (or the ion, can't remember) with the xenon-atom trapped inside an insoluble barium salt crystal.
budullewraagh Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 not in large quantities. i'd like to see perxenic acid act on a piece of wood
Gilded Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 "i'd like to see perxenic acid act on a piece of wood" I'd imagine the reaction is quite similar to the one of osmium tetroxide. Which means pretty severe.
budullewraagh Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 haha, perxenic anhydride. thats an enjoyable concept

Gilded Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 "looks like a blast" Indeed. And very literally.
