replikant Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 hello, I had this idea for generating electricity, could it work?
swansont Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 If the two notches are at the same height, no. The wheel in the first picture has no kinetic energy. The wheel in the fourth picture, if it's at the same height, cannot be spinning — that violates conservation of energy.
replikant Posted January 22, 2013 Author Posted January 22, 2013 the two notches would change their height accordingly the to wheels position

CaptainPanic Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Your wheel would only go up the hill on the other side to about halfway. You turn all your potential (height) energy into kinetic and rotational energy. Since you then disconnect part of that rotational energy, your wheel will not make it all he way back up.
swansont Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 the construction could move That takes energy.
