slickinfinit Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 Are we being hit by disasters of biblical proportions? Or is our world based news making us precieve things as such, lots of so called prophets say that divine intervention is causing our planet to lash out at its bad tennants (us), are we getting more disasters now then before and why is this ?
ecoli Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 Who says we have more disasters now then before? Natural disasters have always plauged inabitants on earth. Volcanoes have wiped out intire civilizations, and a metoer has wiped out an entire evolutionary link.
slickinfinit Posted December 28, 2004 Author Posted December 28, 2004 Yea u are right but I am asking is our relentless news coverage making things seem far worse then 10 or 20 years ago, also is the rate of natural disasters on a rise and how would we know that for sure and finaly do we know when and how ice ages are started and if we are at risk in our lifetime to get another one. If our caveman ancestors survived I think we will do okay so I am not worried about much because in most cases of a global disaster some people will survive and adapt.
ecoli Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 Not only does our media make things seem worse, when they report a story. But, when there are no actual natural disaster's occuring, the media run's stories abut potential disaster's. Some of the stuff they come up with is pretty far fetched, but it does work in scaring the public. Media is all about fear. They scare people into thinking they need to watch the news. (see Bowling for Columbine, pretty interesting stuff)
ctc7752 Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 When you use the term Biblical Proportions, understand that what is happening today cannot even begin to compare to the trials and tribulations of Bible times. For example, did you know that the world completely flipped over (Noah's Flood, Exodus) twice in the last four million years? The earth's rotation ceased during this process. Can you imagine what that was like?

YT2095 Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 as Ecloi said and to expand upon, "Biblical" implies 6000 years (or less). it just DIDN`T happen!
