benzex Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 can anybody explain me about the scientific information about earth quakes and especially tsunamis.
atinymonkey Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 Yes! Earth quakes and tsunamis are two different things. Google, or search the forums, to get an answer.
MulderMan Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 if your talking about that thing that just happened, that was a tsunami - from the result of an earthquake.
Ophiolite Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 This BBC site provides a basic, well illustrated explanation. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/spl/hi/pop_ups/04/asia_pac_asia_earthquake_explained/html/1.stm
Gilded Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 Oh dear! Weren't you the one who lives in the Maldives, benzex? The tsunami must have caused floods and major destruction there. I recall at least 55 people being killed, hopefully none of your friends or relatives?
atinymonkey Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 A few people I know who are missing in the aftermath. It's to horrific to focus on, really. Anyhow, linkage: - http://www.prh.noaa.gov/itic/library/about_tsu/faqs.html
