Moderation Consideration (off-topic posts split from Spotting Pseudoscience)

Earlier today, i thought that if you split an "atom" of oxygen, it might become two seperate bubbles of oxygen instead of some other substance. Is that inconsistent with current work?

No. You would end with two smaller nuclei. Google nuclear fission.

So having something that we consider to be absolutely reduced, or containing 1proton 1neutron and 1electron (i dont believe in these things btw im just trying to humor the logic), technically, if you took a fine blade and sliced the atom, it would be a different substance right?

I was thinking that if we took any atom, call it a bubble, and split it in half, wouldnt it be two bubbles of the same solution?

Popcorn,

Make a new thread on the subject if you wish to discuss it.

It's not as though this thread has been "on topic" since, well, ever.

I was just coming around to the idea of Popcorn Sutton as a moderator (poss even Admin) till he committed the heinous sin of thread-hijacking - too bad he fell just before the final hurdle!

Moderator Note

Popcorn, please be so kind to check where you are posting. A thread has a certain topic. We do not want you to start a new discussion in an existing thread.

I believe this is a part of a totally different thread, or maybe a new one altogether. I am not 100% sure which one, but it sure as hell is not this one.

I'll treat this as a mistake, but some of my moderator colleagues might see this as either a complete failure to engage in a dialogue, or as a thread hijack. Both are against our rules.

To everybody: this thread has been hopelessly off topic all the time. Thread closed.
