m1dnight Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Hello, I'm a MsC Computer Science student and I really like to read some papers in the general field of computer science. E.g. I just started reading "The eval that men do", which was recommend by a teacher we have. Are there any other papers that one might recommend to read?
tigy888 Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 (edited) What particular areas are you interested in...? I mean there are a vast numbers of fields within computer science. For starters, I'd look up some papers on different kinds of algorithms and the implementation of them. Edited April 1, 2013 by tigy888
Griffon Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 (edited) Perhaps all students of computer science should read this classic paper by Alan Turing in which he explores whether machines can think. http://www.turingarchive.org/viewer/?id=463&title=1 Edited April 1, 2013 by Griffon
m1dnight Posted April 20, 2013 Author Posted April 20, 2013 @tigy888: I'm particularly interested in programming-related papers. I'm also very interested in other fields like multi-threaded programming, or (first thing that comes to mind) code analysis etc. I don't have much criteria to be honest. @Griffon: Nice! I've already had a course about infinite automata and formal languages which I found quite interesting. So I'm familiar with the concept and theory so this is a great read! Thank you!
Cap'n Refsmmat Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 This paper is a classic: http://www.cse.chalmers.se/~rjmh/Papers/whyfp.pdf
