The two are related in that (1) they're both asteroids, and (2) they happened to come closest to the Earth (a little too close in the case of that Russian meteor) on the same day. Otherwise, there is no relationship. The two objects had vastly different orbits about the Sun, both in terms of eccentricity and orbital plane.
