ajb Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Next week I take up a position at the Institute of Mathematics within the Polish Academy of Sciences. The position is at the level of an assistant professor and will last for one year. Because of this I may not be on the forums as much as I have been recently. However, I will keep blogging and will blog about my Polish adventure.
imatfaal Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Congratulations. I have a welsh friend who is a legal academic in Warsaw in a similar sort of situation - seems to be working out fine and main complaint is the bitter cold. Good luck and I am sure it will be a real benefit
CaptainPanic Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Congrats with the new job. Spring is starting soon, and Poland is awesome in spring/summer. Make sure to travel around in Poland. It is a lovely country. Careful on the vodka. Even maths professors will count vodka as one, two, many.
ajb Posted February 21, 2013 Author Posted February 21, 2013 (edited) Thanks for the messages. The only difficulties I can see are the language and the cold! EDIT: The official invite just arrived Edited February 21, 2013 by ajb
Klaynos Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Very well done indeed! I hope you enjoy it.

ajb Posted February 23, 2013 Author Posted February 23, 2013 Thanks everyone. My wife is packing right now.
CharonY Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 What is she doing, btw. Is she coming with you?

michel123456 Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 From a scientific POV you are going East in a time zone one hour earlier. You are getting closer 1 hour to your anniversary so you are getting older faster.
