Nave Posted January 5, 2005 Posted January 5, 2005 I was wondering if anybody had any good sites or really good sites that could help me out with atomic structures. Thanks
Gilded Posted January 5, 2005 Posted January 5, 2005 I wonder if Nave also meant nuclear forces and other wacky stuff in the nucleus. In that case... err, ask it in the physics sub-forum. )
5614 Posted January 5, 2005 Posted January 5, 2005 well nave we really need a bit more detail, there are many websites explaining: simple proton, neutron, electron ^ + forces between em ^ + advance physics for those particles proton, neutron, electron + quarks ^ + forces between em ^ + advance physics for those particles proton, neutron, electron, quarks + everything you could possibly want to know those which specialise in certain atomic or sub-atomic particles. it comes down to the 'be more specific' advice i am giving you know, i think you get the point!
jdurg Posted January 5, 2005 Posted January 5, 2005 I'll just give you some warning: The more in-detail you get with subatomic particles, the more it can get incredibly 'out there' and really mess with your mind. (That whole dual particle-wave thing still makes my brain go crazy. )
5614 Posted January 5, 2005 Posted January 5, 2005 i personally found the wave particle thing quite easy to get... although remembering details on all the sub atomic particles can get quite hard.
jdurg Posted January 5, 2005 Posted January 5, 2005 The wave particle nature was easy for me to get as well, it's just that it always seemed so contradictory to me that an electron is both a particle AND a wave at the same time.
5614 Posted January 5, 2005 Posted January 5, 2005 a dolphin is a particle and moves in wave shapes.... wow, thats abstract but you see what i mean? (dolphin as a particle jumping in/out of water)
jdurg Posted January 5, 2005 Posted January 5, 2005 Yeah, but when the dolphin is moving in a wave pattern, is he without mass?
5614 Posted January 5, 2005 Posted January 5, 2005 the dolphin has mass just as your electron does... here comes the photon!!!! you can visualise something without mass, well ya can just dont ask questions like that!
Nave Posted January 5, 2005 Author Posted January 5, 2005 nvm guy thanks though i found what i was looking for
