eddy raylord Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I work with carbazole and it alkyl derivatives, what reagent can I use to spray the tlc plate
hypervalent_iodine Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 UV doesn't show you your carbazole spots? 1
eddy raylord Posted April 17, 2013 Author Posted April 17, 2013 there are other faint spot that are present in the plate that is why I need a spraying reagent, please help!
hypervalent_iodine Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Okay, so what have you tried? If you're not sure what you're trying to see and you can already visualize the carbazole with UV, I would start with the standard ones (or what I consider to be the standard ones), such as Goofy dip, KMnO4, vanillin, charring with H2SO4 or an iodine chamber. If those don't work, you could look into something more exotic, although if it were me (and since you can see your other spot) I wouldn't waste my time and the group's materials with that.
eddy raylord Posted April 18, 2013 Author Posted April 18, 2013 thanks for advice sir, I will never fail to acknowledge you when I publish this work, but I will need your further assistance as I progress.
