agachak
btw think of this. we live in our solar system what is pretty young and other systems are old because how long has light taken to travel from them to here. but if u would stand on other system it would be same thing backwardsa adn then think of this does light have a age itself like c + age of c i dont mean just how fast light travels that way i mean does this symbol has age itself c ??? c is how speed of light in years i mean age of c Edited April 26, 2013 by agachak
krash661
a ray of light from the sun is already 10 minutes old when reached earth. i dont mean just how fast light travels that way i mean does this symbol has age itself c ??? c is how speed of light in years i mean age of ca light year is the distance light travels in one year(earth time)which equals, 9.4605284*10^15/m or 9460730472580800/m(exact) once the ray of light reaches this distance. it's already one year old. a ray of light travels 186k m/s in that distance it's already one second old. pwagen
a ray of light travels 186k m/s I was going to correct you in that the speed of light in km/s is around 300,000 km/s. But then I realized you might mean that as kilomiles/s, in which case it's accurate.
krash661
yes, I apologize for not using detail. I assumed people would know what was meant, since it's a common notion.
swansont
yes, I apologize for not using detail. I assumed people would know what was meant, since it's a common notion. The reality in science is that SI units are the norm, and only a few unsophisticated, backward countries still use imperial units. Unfortunately, the US generally behaves like contrariness and willful ignorance are virtues.
