Get a Kindle Reader (should be available for most devices). Then go to Amazon and browse their free section. I'd link, but on a phone atm. A Google search should suffice though.

 

Something I read in quite a few places is that if you find a free book you're interested in, get it as soon as possible. Prices change all the time, and there's no telling when it won't be free anymore.

You might also check out your local public library. I've borrowed in ePub format several excellent books on cosmology and string theory from this source, books that are not available for free on the internet. It's all perfectly legit, as the copy of the books that you download have DRM (digital rights management) incorporated into them.
