nghosh@india Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 can any body tell me the difference between higgs-boson partical and the patical was found in CERN?because i can't understand from the net.and what is the characterestics of this two partical?
EdEarl Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 I am not an expert. The Wikipedia page about the Higgs was updated to say CERN had found a Higgs like particle the same day it was found. I assume by someone at CERN. The following link explains the current status. My understanding is that they are still uncertain whether they found the Higgs boson or not, but the tests they have completed are consistent with it being a Higgs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Higgs_boson#Current_status_of_the_125_GeV_particle 1
timo Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 There is no known difference between the Higgs Boson and the "new particle" recently proven at LHC. That is the reason why most people believe it is the Higgs boson. Obviously, no one would believe that if there was a know difference between the two. Btw.: It's "particle". And English sentences always start with a capital letter.
krash661 Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 (edited) in the CERN topic i have here in one of these threads, has the link, directly to a hangout cern did when they discovered the higgs/ particle.it's info directly from the horses mouth is the term.i'll find it. edit- scroll through this whole list. they are all there,http://www.youtube.com/CERNTV Edited May 15, 2013 by krash661
