5614 Posted January 15, 2005 Posted January 15, 2005 those ads at the top of each page are google adverts... from what i understand these work on a basis of forum owner gets paid every time one is clicked on. you can click on it and exit the page immediately and the "site owner" would still get paid. that is what ive read happens anyway. if this is true, presumably blike gets the money???? if those two things are true we could start a "click on the ad once per week" club ..... it'd get blike some money and would be an easy way of us to say thanks to him. sadly he wont get much money per 'click' so it'd need quite a few people to do this to get him some noticeable money. also ive also read that you cant just have one person clicking thousands of times coz it'd all be from the same IP and i think there's some kinda recognition system if that happens... hence i suggested everyone once per week or sumin.... what do you guys think?
Sayonara Posted January 15, 2005 Posted January 15, 2005 It's against the adsense rules for an account holder to solicit clicks, so "no comment"
5614 Posted January 15, 2005 Author Posted January 15, 2005 but im not an account holder! anyway, some of the ads are quite interesting... i rememeber there used to be a physics one which looked really interesting but the link never worked!
Cap'n Refsmmat Posted January 15, 2005 Posted January 15, 2005 I just adblocked them... heh. I remember sometimes things like The Final Theory (a piece of crap) would be on threads in the pseudoscience forum.
5614 Posted January 15, 2005 Author Posted January 15, 2005 ophiolite's giving free advance mathematic lessons. guys, ok, i should have expected this. you have to rememeber that one click isnt going to get anyone anywhere, it'd need to be a team effort, hence the thread outta interest, who would get the money?
5614 Posted January 15, 2005 Author Posted January 15, 2005 as a forum user and not an account holder is it "legal" or allowed for me to do this?
5614 Posted January 15, 2005 Author Posted January 15, 2005 cool....... right all those who like this forum and wanna thank blike for setting this up stop making thanks threads and start clicking on those ads. just remember to do this in moderation as you cant just keep on doing it from the same IP as it can become noticeable and suspicious.
Ophiolite Posted January 15, 2005 Posted January 15, 2005 And that's why 3+3=6. Sayonara cannot, in any way, promote this idea, but he can implicitly withhold any objection. That's what my advanced maths was intended to confirm. I was agreeing with you. (I guess I have to improve my maths, or revert to English!)
5614 Posted January 15, 2005 Author Posted January 15, 2005 yeah yeah.... i did get the hint ophiolite!!!!
MolecularMan14 Posted January 15, 2005 Posted January 15, 2005 Where are these google things? Are they "Customer Support Portal" and "Bulletin Board Corp."?
5614 Posted January 15, 2005 Author Posted January 15, 2005 the google adverts are the ads on the very top right of each page, they vary depending on the subject of the thread ""Customer Support Portal" and "Bulletin Board Corp."?" probably, they'll change when ya switch pages.
MolecularMan14 Posted January 15, 2005 Posted January 15, 2005 lol, "Psychic Source" and "First Three minutes free". Cool! this click's for you
blike Posted January 15, 2005 Posted January 15, 2005 Don't repeatedly click them (even only once a week) pleassee, google will catch on fast.
1veedo Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 After we get a general opinion, we need to deleate this thread
Sayonara Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 Yeah, like that'll work. If google want to find naughty people, they'll search their cache, not the web.
Silencer Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 We are like a bit of algae in the sea of google. They won't care if you just casually click. Just say that people are interested in the science links.
Sayonara Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 No, we aren't like algae, because algae haven't made a legally binding agreement with the sea. Please don't interfere with random assumptions about Google's business processes.
