EdgyAlien Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 I have a pretty big space where I can set up a lab. I live in Malaysia, please leave links of what to buy and where i can buy it. Im going on a 2,000 RM Budget. That's 2,000 divided by 3 (USD) ill leave you guys work out the maths ! -EdgyAlien
EdEarl Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Since your main interest is chemistry, I assume you want a chemistry lab. The money you have to spend is not much; therefore, you will have to only purchase things you absolutely need. A single instrument, for example a mass spectrometer, costs much more than you have to spend. Thus, to answer your question is not possible unless you share what you want to do with the lab.
hypervalent_iodine Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Basically, what Ed said. Your funds are no where near enough for a lab. The glassware wouldn't be too expensive, but you will certainly not have enough to install engineering controls, equipment such as vacuum pumps or purchase chemicals (you wouldn't even be able to afford one of those aspects, really). What exactly are you planning to use the lab for?
John Cuthber Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 How expensive is equipment in Malaysia? Though the real question is what do you want to do?
cresol Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 you have the space but........chemistry lab is a long shot with such sum.....

What exactly are you planning to use the lab for? Im planning to use this lab for 'Hobby' purposes. I enjoy experimenting with acids, alkalis etc. Also, How much would a chemistry lab cost. Please Quote and reply
EdEarl Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Mixing acids and alkalies can be dangerous, and you should have something like this for protection. http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/Vented-Universal-Fume-Hood-4HRY4?gclid=CJ_vw5ev67cCFWYV7AodWlAAlA&cm_mmc=PPC:GooglePLA-_-Lab%20Supplies-_-Lab%20Fume%20Hoods%20and%20Accessories-_-4HRY4&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=4HRY4&ef_id=ULS4WgAAAoRKsPlq:20130617150702:s
EdEarl Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Someone buy Ed some baking powder. Great! I already have some acetic acid and food coloring, I can complete my volcano.
