Guest bunnies4ever Posted March 27, 2003 Posted March 27, 2003 do you guys know anything about string theory? how would i explain it to a bunch of 13 year olds. i am doing an oral and handing in a written report on it for class, but i'm a little unsure of what exactly to say. any comments would be helpful regards, bunnies4ever.
Radical Edward Posted March 27, 2003 Posted March 27, 2003 explain string theory to a bunch of 13 year olds? here's some advice: "don't"
spacemanspiff Posted March 28, 2003 Posted March 28, 2003 i recall some physicist saying that anyone who thought they understood string theory didn't know what they were talking about. or maybe that was quantum... i don't know anything about string theory. but good luck with that. I bet you get some interesting questions.
Radical Edward Posted March 28, 2003 Posted March 28, 2003 it was quantum and it was Feynman, if I recall correctly.
Ryoken Posted March 28, 2003 Posted March 28, 2003 Just say that the smalles measure of matter/energy is composed of very tiny vibrating strings strings... or something to that effect. Shouldn't one understand what it is before attempting to educate kids about it? ugh Thats all that I think I know about it.
Guest bunnies4ever Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 thanks neway guys, it turns out i have a week longer... which means a few days longer to worry about how to explain it to all my friends.
fafalone Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 Originally posted by Ryoken Shouldn't one understand what it is before attempting to educate kids about it? ugh That's not how the American education system works.
Ryoken Posted April 6, 2003 Posted April 6, 2003 Ime sorry faf, I was thinking again, nasty habbit that is.
Michael12 Posted April 14, 2003 Posted April 14, 2003 Here is a good site re: string/super-string theory. It may help you... http://superstringtheory.com/ It breaks down each section into basic, and advanced, which makes it great for laymen, and those more advanced. Though it may still be beyond the average 13 year old
Guest bunnies4ever Posted April 15, 2003 Posted April 15, 2003 thanks for the link, i've been using that one for my basis. franlky, now im just stuck on explaining theoretical physics. any ideas? thanks, bunnies4ever
Radical Edward Posted April 15, 2003 Posted April 15, 2003 I can't take you seriously at all... why are you doing this?

KHinfcube22 Posted April 17, 2003 Posted April 17, 2003 hey, this page is offencive. I'm not that much older than thirteen, goto a regular school, and if you rread my stuff, I understand far more than the next person! __________________________________________________ and if anyone wants to know, Kage means shadow in japanese
fafalone Posted April 17, 2003 Posted April 17, 2003 Yeah but any 13 year old who's interested in this stuff would have already researched it on their own like you have.
KHinfcube22 Posted April 17, 2003 Posted April 17, 2003 I don't know if thats an insult or a compliment, but I get your meaning.
fafalone Posted April 17, 2003 Posted April 17, 2003 it's a compliment. initiative is always a good thing.
