I`m fairly certain you would be able to by the leather ankle/lower leg cuffs that wrap around over your boot to protect against many accidental snake bites.

I wouldn't actually worry about the snakes too much. They dislike messing with people, if you don't approach or try to mess about with them they will do whatever it takes to get away from you.

 

Insect repellant on the other hand is invaluable. I don't care about King Browns but mosquitos are the worse. (and if you eat lots of Marmite or a similiar yeast extract it will also help by making you less appetising to insects)
