Guest as Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 I have recently been asked to define "scientific reduction" using a bunch of articles handed out. However, I'm completing the excecise in order to dodge a test, so none of the papers I'm supposed to use are yet available for reference! I've understood that "scientific reduction" is something Karl Popper has discussed, yet so far I have failed to locate a strict definition of his, even though Sir Poppers seems to have used it quite a lot in his immense literature. Any help would be greatly appreciated, guys!
YT2095 Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 is This of any help at all? : http://www.marxists.org/reference/subject/philosophy/works/at/popper.htm it`s 1`st in the list using This search: http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLD,GGLD:2004-10,GGLD:en&q=%22scientific+reduction%22++Karl+Popper
Guest as Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 Thanks, sir, but I've already viewed these two. The problem is, that the chapter presented doesn't introduce the term, so Popper doesn't make an effort to define it either!
