bemanos Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 (edited) Hi ,which textbook would you recommend to someone who wants to self educate himself with the basics of o-chem?(i have my first course of o-chem this october ,but i want to learn the theory in advance , on my own! ) So any recommendations could help me (Anything but the mcmurry's textbook ,cause that one is used in my class ,so i want something different) Thanks! Also some recommendations for analytical chem would be nice! Edited July 15, 2013 by bemanos
Tridimity Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Drat, I was going to suggest McMurry's! Hmph. Stuart G.Warren's Organic Chemistry?
Genecks Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Carey - Organic Chemistry (most recent edition). Going about three editions back, you'll get similar stuff. Practice reaction mechanisms a fair amount, and learn how to generalize information about them: How to summarize something to an "R" group is great. Use notecards and use them as flashcards. Practice, practice, practice. Keep all of your information organized, and practice recall a fair amount.
daniton Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Why don't u try this "College Chemistry :An Introductory Textbook of General Chemistry by Linus Pauling". Its a good book to start Chemistry. I don't know many organic chemistry book 'cause I usually use general Chemistry book to study but it's very good book believe me, It helps me a lot in highschool
