Jason1970 Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 I work at a small investigation firm and I have a problem that may or may not be possible. I have some numbers that indicate a list of possible suspects for a crime we are looking into. The list is encrypted or coded somehow. I went to the business where the numbers came from and was able to (out of the dumpster) piece together some shredded documents that have the number and the coded version of the number together. What I need is the key to decoding these numbers so that I can present it as evidence to my client. I am not smart enough but I was hoping for some possible help. Here are the numbers I recovered from the dumpster. Original Number Coded Number 522761775 C03245460 523762775 C03355450 449413361 D58369500 610448295 G45630317 397880459 R61183608 421600149 V49747577 521631765 C06574443 521632735 C06644443 523775765 C12595450 524475786 C12681457 262275786 C12683773 Thank you to anyone able to help me, Jason I figure it might be some crazy hard algebra or something because we have the original number, X being whatever math is used to code it, and the coded number as an answer. I figure I would be able to reverse the problem and then I will have the evidence. I am unfortunately nowhere near smart enough to even start figuring this out.
HalfWit Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 (edited) Original Number Coded Number 522761775 C03245460 523762775 C03355450 449413361 D58369500 610448295 G45630317 397880459 R61183608 421600149 V49747577 521631765 C06574443 521632735 C06644443 523775765 C12595450 524475786 C12681457 262275786 C12683773 I've decoded this for you. It says: Leave the money under the old oak tree. Don't call the cops or else Fluffy gets it. Edited July 21, 2013 by HalfWit -2
imatfaal Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Couldn't the nine digit numbers be Social security numbers - ie read as 078-05-1120? that could mean the phrases all preceded by a letter were not connected mathematically - but just a customer number (or instance) that related to a client (?) identified by socsec number
gabrelov Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Can you explain further what case are you into or what kind of crime happened or type of suspect you are looking for
