Braddock Posted January 31, 2005 Posted January 31, 2005 Since blonde hair and blue eyes result from 2 recessive genes, Is it correct to assume that a blonde hair/blue eyed mother and father can only produce blonde hair/blue eyed children? Since they both have 2 recessive genes to offer for each trait , Wouldnt all of their offspring all have the 2 recessive genes, Thereby all being blonde hair and blue eyed?
rakuenso Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 although i'm not sure about eyes, I'm sure that hair color follows the rule of polygenic inheritance. In that there is more than one allele that controls the hair color of the offspring. (someone verify?)
ecoli Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 I'm pretty sure you right...and the same goes for eye color. But in terms of a simple explainaition for genomes: http://www.scienceforums.net/forums/showthread.php?t=7957&highlight=Punnet+Square
