Science Fair

Hello,

 

I am a high school freshman, and my science teacher is making the class participate in a science fair.

 

I've chosen my topic to be the effect of external, ambient sounds on the rate of cricket chirps, so can anyone give me a few links to previous researches that relate to this?

 

Also, I would appreciate if you can suggest some small changes to my topic, in case you notice something vague, etc. Thanks!

Not my area - but would highly recommend learning to use google scholar properly (that isn't just a way of saying giyf - it is a really useful skill nowadays).

Try Mendeley as well - Academia.edu etc - these are academic communities and you might well find groups with similar interests; most academics love sharing their expertise (aka showing off) and will often help a young amateur. Be enthusiastic and open - but probably best to maintain an anonymous approach; these places are most academics or keen laypersons but they are open-access so keep smart

Once you have done a bit of googling you will find a few articles that talk about cricket chirping (temperature dependence, time of year, availability of mates etc) - write to a few authors of these papers at their universities and ask for them to recommend study resources for a person your age etc
