AtotehZ Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 (edited) Hey guys, I just read about the anatomy of the breast because I heard mention of a "breast bone"... somewhere, wanted to make sure I hadn't missed anything(I hadn't). I stumbled over something interesting though. The Suspensory ligaments(Cooper's ligaments) in the breasts looks like the culprits of a sagging breast. If one were to strengthen or stimulate these in some way, could it be prevented?. Ref: http://www.innerbody.com/image_chest1/skel17.html Edited October 8, 2013 by AtotehZ
Tridimity Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Even if it were possible, I do not think that this would be an advisable procedure. The procedure would be entirely cosmetic and the rationale would therefore be borne of vain motivations on the part of the individual woman concerned, because she is not comfortable with her own appearance and/or because she is concerned that her body is aesthetically unsatisfactory for her partner. The problems with this type of cosmetic surgery are: i. the individual is no longer retaining their core integrity of self - the reflection in the mirror is no longer of the individual's true self, and so any perceived improvement in self-judgment is futile; ii. if the individual allows their sense of self-worth to depend so heavily on the opinions of others, then the individual will never achieve a true and wholesome sense of self-acceptance. We need to move beyond a society that judges people on a superficial level, and recognise a deeper beauty. In this particular case, the individual woman ought to see the beauty in her own body as she ages naturally; for example, she may appreciate in herself the immense value of motherhood, or of being a loving partner, or simply of unabashed proud womanhood.
AtotehZ Posted October 10, 2013 Author Posted October 10, 2013 I agree 100% with what you wrote. I am against vanity operations! My question was if it was possible. I am not against cosmetic operations however. People who have been in accidents or had illnesses that disfigured them, should get them if it makes them happy. A friend of mine had plastic surgery done to his nose. His nose was split in two from just below the tip, to the bridge. He has become happy after having it done. Again, my question is if it would be possible. Thank you for your reply anyhow
GiantEvil Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 According to The Wiki; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cooper's_ligaments Dr. Christine Haycock, a respected surgeon at the New Jersey Medical School and an expert in sports medicine,[7] said that "Cooper's ligaments have nothing to do with supporting breast tissue... They just serve to divide the breast into compartments." She noted that most women's breasts begin to droop with age and that extremely large-breasted women are generally more affected. However, sagging is not related to ligaments or dependent on breast size. I recognize and applaud the legitimacy of corrective cosmetic surgery. Unnecessary breast augmentation is just silly. The fierce avowal of an abstract humanity is beautiful.
John Cuthber Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Reminds me of this joke dotted over the internet "There is more money being spent on breast implants and Viagra than on Alzheimer's research. This means that by 2030, there will be a large elderly population with perky boobs and huge erections and absolutely no recollection of what to do with them."
