Prospective directions of exploration in remote sencing

Featured Replies

Hello, everybody!

Please tell me, if you know, what are the most prospective directions of studying/exploration in remote sensing currently?

I'm a first-year master and I'm looking for master's thesis subject.

Thanks in advance.

It might help if you explain the exploration context. I can think of at least three, very different kinds of exploration: military, oceanic and space.

What do you mean?

I live in Russia, Ural. I just want to know what fields of remote sensing more active now (agricultural, urbanistics or smth else..).

There are monitors people can wear to report to their doctors on their condition.

There are monitors that can be used to report levels of moisture in different parts of a field.

There are mobile monitors that report on people in buildings, for example buildings that have been damaged by a bomb.

There are cameras in most major cities that report crimes such as running stop lights, and others that monitor traffic.

There are air quality monitors.

There are weather monitors.

Monitors are becoming ubiquitous.

Ed, I think Suzy is looking for things like assessing harvest quality and magnitude from sattelite imagery; or, identifying hydrocarbon seepages via ultra-sensitive chromatogrpah analysis from planes flying a grid pattern.

Unfortunately, Suzy, my knowledge in this area is a few decades out of date.
