calbiterol Posted February 14, 2005 Author Posted February 14, 2005 I have to agree with Nevermore there. Anyways, so far we have food/water, shelter, love, laws, and a means of keeping time as requirements for a modern society. Would they be in that order? And are there any others?
Cadmus Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 I have to agree with Nevermore there. Anyways, so far we have food/water, shelter, love, laws, and a means of keeping time as requirements for a modern society. Would they be in that order? And are there any others? How about money? Several of the submitted items are requirements for mere subsistence. Are these really also suitable as requirements for a modern society?
iglak Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 basics of society? well, first we have living basics: food water shelter (including comfort, such as heat) waste disposal language then we have the necessary extras: health system edcation system government system money isn't a necessity. the government system could be communist or socialist in nature, in a way that gives people the necessities in full. art and technology can be distrubuted by trading things other than currency, currency is just a way to trade now and decide what you want later. although money would indeed be a good idea. money is also hard to impliment initially, and usually starts out as an art product.

Please give an example of a modern society that currently does not use money, and indicate what producers and consumers use to interact in this society.
Sayonara Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 Maybe not money per se, but if this is a society of humans I think we can safely assume there will be a need for at least one form of currency, whether it's arbitrary (like dollars) or practical (like food).
YT2095 Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 What are the bare minimum requirements for a society/nation to survive? QUOTE] Structure, would be my answer. that`s about as Minimum as it gets
ctc7752 Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 The only requirement for a nation is its ability to support its population. All wars in history are the result of one country's inability to do this.
