Moontanman Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Scientists have begun to consider Einsteins "spooky action at a distance" maybe spookier than was first thought. Entangled particles might be the result of worm holes connecting the particles or groups of particles that are entangled. Even Black holes could be similarly entangled. http://www.spacedaily.com/reports/Spooky_action_builds_a_wormhole_between_entangled_particles_999.html
Unity+ Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 But here's the catch: One couldn't actually travel, or even communicate, through these wormholes, said Andreas Karch, a UW physics professor. Doesn't quantum entanglement have two particles having the same information with each other? Doesn't that require some form of communication?
md65536 Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 (edited) Doesn't quantum entanglement have two particles having the same information with each other? Doesn't that require some form of communication? No. There's no known way to cause a specific effect on one particle that can cause a corresponding effect at the other, ie. no way to put information into one particle that can be detected using the other particle alone. Sharing some information does not require communication. I read about this at http://www.mit.edu/newsoffice/2013/you-cant-get-entangled-without-a-wormhole-1205.html, which speaks of the particles "communicating" (in quotes). This is exactly the type of story that pop sci writers screw up, miseducating people. The video in this post--- http://www.scienceforums.net/topic/663-spotting-pseudoscience/page-8#entry781154 ---expresses how I feel better than I can! Edited December 7, 2013 by md65536
michel123456 Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 Action at a distance is spooky anyway, even under Newtonian mechanics.
