Well, the list contains this surprise.

 

The UK includes Northern Ireland and Wales - which possess the proud cities of Belfast, Cardiff and Swansea.

 

Yet these cities aren't on the list!

Yet these cities aren't on the list!

Those cities are much smaller than the other on this list. This is no surprise really.

Quick googling of figures, shows that Cardiff used, historically, to hover around being comparable, or bigger than, Nottingham, in population.

 

But nowadays Nottingham is surging ahead - its population is rapidly increasing.

 

That's progress! Isn't it?
