mossoi Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 I thought that the whole Schrodinger's kittens thing was that you had a box containing two kittens and enough poison to kill only one of them. It doesn't matter who the poison is dipensed as long as one can assume that only one cat can die and that it is equally likely to be either. Then you cut the box in half while keeping its' contents unknown but ensuring that you have one kitten in each half of the the box. Fire one box off into space. Then by opening the box that is on earth you immediately know the state of the kitten in the box that is far, far away.
Crash Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 I missed the hole point of firing the kitty of into space......apart from possibly sadistic or malicous intent BTW what would you fire the "kitty contained in a box" with?
mossoi Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 Meh....whatever. Just so long as it goes elsewhere. You don't have to send it into space - you can put it in another room. It's just to show that by looking at one part of a system you can determine the state of the other regardless of distance.
Radical Edward Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 Schrodingers cat is not an entanglement experiment of that type.
mossoi Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 No, but that was the Schrodinger's Kittens idea that I heard - maybe it was misquoted but it's still food for thought in the same way that Schrodinger's Cat is.
