marybethmartin Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 I understand the sex chromosomes and the significance of the extra X making the 47xxy karyotype. but I don't understand why the 1st set of 22 autosomes are divided into 1 and 21. Can you help me? I'm doing a report on Klinefelter syndrome for nursing school and I found this graphic but it confused me on the autosomes.
marybethmartin Posted March 1, 2014 Author Posted March 1, 2014 (edited) Sorry it's showing on my screen, it will only let me link to a URL. Is there anyway just to upload a jpeg? https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10203393949754254&set=a.1694479686637.94555.1377158630&type=3&theater Click on the link and see if that works. Ringer Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 It's probably just showing a normal two chromosomes to compare that the sex chromosomes are abnormal. Without context, though, that's solely a guess.
marybethmartin Posted March 1, 2014 Author Posted March 1, 2014 Thank you, the authors were in Spain and the whole article was in Spanish.
