calbiterol
I've searched the forums. I've searched online. I've searched high and low. I understand the principle behind them (for the most part - but any in-depth explanations would be cool.) But I can't find what I want. So, HOW can I make a refrigerator from parts readily available (like, go to hardware store, etc) that is reasonably safe and (probly) legal? P.S.: I did find one design, but it didn't really show me what I wanted.

calbiterol
While I'm at it, can a stirling cycle engine (in reverse, or something like that) be used to refrigerate?
YT2095
if you had an air compressor, you could make a vortex freezer?
Newtonian
You cannot beat a sink full of cold water in the short term(from student days living in digs). Works great for milk, not so well for sandwiches, though i may have wrapped them up wrong!

calbiterol
How many of these could be used (hypothetically ) to refrigerate to liquid-nitrogen temperatures?
drz
easy man, go buy an entire ac unit from an old car in the junk yard Get a air tight box. Setup the Auto AC to blow cold air in the box Use an electric motor and a pulley and a belt to drive the ac pump. You could use a lawn mower engine, but, wouldn't be a very cost effective. I have no idea how cold you could get with this, maybe you could use multiple systems, or, if the area is small enough it might get pretty cold.
