chadn737 Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Claims of even being able to isolate collagen fibers from dinosaur remains have been extremely controversial. Consider then that DNA isolated from frozen Mammoths is highly fragmented....it would be impossible to merely inject ancient DNA into an egg and recover such an organism.
SamBridge Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 (edited) Isn't the pristine form of the DNA destroyed during fossilization normally? How'd they manage to find DNA in a rock-like substance? Otherwise they would have been working on this a lot sooner. http://www.sci-news.com/paleontology/science-dinosaur-dna-amber-01383.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ancient_DNA It's got to be astronomically rare to find DNA that's so well preserved they can incubate it within an organism and succeed in the exact way they planned. swansont Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/hoaxes/dinosaurclone.asp April Fool's day and the internet is a bad mix.
CaptainPanic Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 ! Moderator Note Alright, April Fool's Day is over. I enjoyed it, and linked the thread to some friends... but today we're serious again, and this doesn't belong in Science News. Since we don't have a "science hoax" subforum, I am moving it to the Lounge. Since this clearly isn't true, I am also closing it. Thread closed, and moved to the Lounge.
