ObamaBinLaden Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 (edited) So...i came across this: .To this solution add *x-substance* in ½ gram amounts. I've never seen something like that before.Maybe it's not being used in my country...So,what's that"1/2 gram amounts"?How do i calculate that? Edited April 25, 2014 by ObamaBinLaden
hypervalent_iodine Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Could you post the rest of the protocol? It looks like it's asking you to add your substance portion-wise rather than adding the whole lot all at once. Out of curiosity, what is x substance? 1

And that's what i don't understand.Add x grams in 1/2 portions or add 1/2 grams?It doesn't say any amount of x substance,just that.
hypervalent_iodine Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Could you give me a link or some sort of reference so I can look at it? It's hard to make a judgement call without a better idea of what you're doing.
pwagen Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 If there's no total amount to add, perhaps you're supposed to add half a gram at a time until you get a reaction? It's hard to tell when we don't have the full protocol, as hypervalent_iodine hinted at, and don't know what you're up to. 1

hypervalent_iodine Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 If there's no total amount to add, perhaps you're supposed to add half a gram at a time until you get a reaction? This would be a bit odd. Proper reaction protocol will always tell you how much in total of each reagent you should be adding and of course, reactions take time. But yes, this is is all pure speculation and of no use until the OP can provide more information on what they are actually doing.
