One of the main topics is photosynthesis, which in higher plants takes place mainly in the leaves. Photosynthesis utilizes the energy of the sun to synthesize carbohydrates and amino acids from water, carbon dioxide, nitrate, and sulfate. Biochemistry is mostly important for us.
