LukeWright
So I'm new here, came across these forums when I was looking for some advice for my problem. I am currently studying Business Studies, will graduate in 2016 if I stay on this course. The problem I have is I dont know if this is what I want to do with the rest of my life? I don't want to waste my time studying a subject which doesnt interest me I have always been interested in Biology and I am wondering if it would be worth me switching course to this subject? What are the career prospects like in comparison to business studies? How hard would the subject be for someone who hasnt studied any sciences for several years? So can any of you give me any advice? Ophiolite
If you wish to become a multimillionaire you should stay with Business Studies. The fact that you don't like it has nothing to do with making money. If you study hard, work in a dedicated and focused manner applying what you have learned and bringing your own original ideas into play, while setting fun to one side you are almost assured of success. I am unable to comment on your state of happiness. However, if you choose a subject you like, then you will do well at it almost naturally: the effort will seem more like fun than an effort. Even if you don't make much money at it you will be doing something you enjoy.
iNow
I would think that business studies would give you far more opportunities than something more specific like biology, and definitely more opportunities to increase your salary through time. A business degree could spread across sectors and across industries, and you could still continue personal reading and study of other subjects that interest you (like biology). As Ophiolite already noted, though, much of it depends on your personal preferences. Do you value economic security and financial stability or do you value personal enjoyment and engaging work? It's sometimes possible to have both, but less common. What matters is what you would prefer. If you'd rather love work and are willing to have a smaller population of jobs from which to choose, then follow that dream! Don't let anyone on an internet forum convince you otherwise. My own stance has become a bit more practical given that I have a family now and as I like to tell my friends, money cannot buy you happiness, but it sure can help you avoid a lot of needless struggle and suffering. Good luck, whatever you choose!

I think Business is something that is very good to learn. You need to know this kind of stuff to do taxes, balance check book and basic things you NEED to know When you deal with money. So I don't think business is ever a bad thing to learn. Schools before university never teach us how to do taxes or any basic skills like that so if you don't have someone who already knows and not everyone knows you have to pay someone else to do it for you. Along with this business is a very broad category. You can have a business in anything such as ice cream, bars, restaurant, technology, toys or simply management. So often business will require you know multiple subjects anyways.
