Hakai no Kame Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Hi there, I apologise if this post is in the wrong forum, I thought maybe it should be neuroscience? However, I am doing Biological explanations of OCD in Psychology so I was unsure which forum would be most relevant as psychology has many cross-over areas into other sciences. I will be writing an extensive essay on OCD, Depression and Schizophrenia however, I am struggling to find a documentary as a "starting point" to kind of broaden my knowledge a little and I am wondering if anyone can recommend a documentary which is academic (not people talking about themselves), about the scientific aspect of this disorder and maybe a study or even just one persons opinion (providing they are a legitimate professional). Thanks in advanced.
dimreepr Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Which disorder do you wish to discus? OCD, depression or schizophrenia?
Hakai no Kame Posted May 25, 2014 Author Posted May 25, 2014 (edited) Which disorder do you wish to discus? OCD, depression or schizophrenia? I'm specifically looking for an educational and academically relevant (Level 3 - Higher College / Level 4/5 - University) documentary on OCD but can't seem to find one. *edit* I tried TEDTalk but couldn't seem to find anything there. iNow Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Not sure this is precisely what you're after, but I follow this blog and feel he does an excellent job on many brain topics. Here is an article on OCD that may help, especially if you also follow the links within: http://mindhacks.com/2007/08/06/ocd-in-time-magazine/
dimreepr Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Following on from iNow’s input, this, very interesting, story may throw some light on the subject; not only does Jason suffer from OCD but it began with PTSD, which would tally with the anxiety mentioned in the article.
