Nicholas Kang Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 I came across several articles discussing issues about MRI in smartphone. How is it possible that giant MRI can be fitted and installed in tiny smartphone?
Phi for All Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 The ones I've heard about are portable scanners that hook up to your smartphone. It probably uses an app for the phone but the real work is done by the scanner.
Nicholas Kang Posted June 9, 2014 Author Posted June 9, 2014 You mean MRI is portable with smartphone? How small would it be?
Phi for All Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 It's a hand-held scanner, iirc. It lets you take multiple small samples of tissue for analysis rather than a single core biopsy sample (which can cause complications). The small samples are more akin to being poked with a syringe, aren't nearly as invasive, and can put together a pretty cost-effective diagnostic process. The scanner has a chip on board and uses the smartphone only as an interface for reading the results.
Nicholas Kang Posted June 10, 2014 Author Posted June 10, 2014 Can you provide me some related articles and pictures or websites?

Mordred Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 They have already it off and tested it on 70+ patients found this in the writeup on the links I provided above http://www.massgeneral.org/cancer/assets/pdfs/STM_article_final_HLCC_yr_RW.pdf 1
Nicholas Kang Posted June 10, 2014 Author Posted June 10, 2014 Thanks Mordred and imatfaal. You have greatly broaden my knowledge.
