Sulfur being non-living is unable to smell. Depending on the embryo inside the egg it is possible it could detect the smell of sulfur.

The question is more depending on the point of view, do bad eggs smell sulfur, or does the sulfur as a gaz smell like bad eggs, because they are often associated one with each other, so wich is the basic smell that defines the other?

Eggs do not have to be 'bad' to have a sulfurous odor. The basic smell/odor is sulfurous, and eggs contain sulfur compounds and so eggs may have a smell/odor of sulfur.

You need to sort out the grammar here

There's a difference between "do bad eggs smell sulfur" which is nonsense- sulphur doesn't have a nose- and "do bad eggs smell of sulfur".

 

Also since sulphur is a non volatile solid, it doesn't smell.

But a lot of its compounds do.

I think it will help if I reworded the question and it is basically a chicken or egg (lol) question. Is the smell of hydrogen sulphide associated to the smell of bad eggs or the other way around?
