KenBrace Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 (edited) What are everyone's thoughts on the book "A Universe From Nothing" by Lawrence Krauss? What do you think about the rebuttal in the New York Times? http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/25/books/review/a-universe-from-nothing-by-lawrence-m-krauss.html?_r=0 Edited June 14, 2014 by KenBrace
Mordred Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 The universe from nothing model, is one of many possible beginning models. Though not the only one other models include a bounce from a previous collapsed universe. Universes from black holes etc. The universe from nothing model is one of the few that doesn't involve a previous universe. The idea has merit, but then so do the others. 1
Bill Angel Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 I read Krauss' book, and the most important point I think that he is making to a general audience is that one does not need to invoke a deity to explain how the universe came into existence. One could even assert that, given an infinite amount of time, it's inevitable that it will happen. 1
