Enric
If we are executing a programm... Is it possible another Big Bang after a Big Crunch? And another Universe, similar, identical or completely different? Consequence of the present Universe. In an infitine process. Another universe where doesn't apear the Earth. Or our galaxy. Or current galaxies. Or Another Universe like the present, with only difference in an atom at the other side of the Universe. Another Universe where we have not the same brothers, or in the lottery of DNA we have not a disease and we have another... Another where doesn't happen the same things and we do not appear... And repeating the loop of possibilities almost infitinites in an infinite process? The answer is possible if we can demonstrate that this Universe will end in a Big Crunch. An implosion enough powerful to cause another explosion called Big Bang.
Ophiolite
Current data suggest that the expansion of the universe is accelerating and that the possibility of a Big Crunch is therefore non-existent.
Phi for All
The answer is possible if we can demonstrate that this Universe will end in a Big Crunch. An implosion enough powerful to cause another explosion called Big Bang. The Big Bang wasn't an explosion, it was an expansion. Explosions are matter bursting into space around a point. There was only a point and no matter until it rapidly expanded to a great size, and the contents expanded to fill the space created. Bang as in "There it is all at once!", not "BOOM!" Even if you could show that this universe will crunch (which current science says is unlikely), that still wouldn't be an "answer", would it? Just because it happens once doesn't mean it's a cycle, does it?
cladking
Current data suggest that the expansion of the universe is accelerating and that the possibility of a Big Crunch is therefore non-existent. Perhaps big bangs and big crunches are local events. This would imply a far older and far larger universe than normally assumed.
Iamwhat?
Current data suggest that the expansion of the universe is accelerating and that the possibility of a Big Crunch is therefore non-existent. What if we are in an infinitely large black hole? Science works by proving it's self wrong.
nullus
What if we are in an infinitely large black hole? dont you think that sounds absolutely crazy especially from the side of scence? just a question...
sunshaker
What if we are in an infinitely large black hole? I can see the universe travelling between different "energy fields", Which could be called "infinitely large blackholes", Picking up speed and expanding coming towards event horizon before entering next "field/blackhole" crunched back together into a singularity, a continous cycle. Ten oz
Some theorize the universe is energy neutral. Lawrence Krauss in his book a universe from nothing advocated such. A big crunch into an explosion would require massive amounts of energy. Levels that don't appear to exists. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zero-energy_universe
ydoaPs
Current data suggest that the expansion of the universe is accelerating and that the possibility of a Big Crunch is therefore non-existent. Unless the universe is far larger than we imagine and this is a local acceleration.
Ophiolite
What if we are in an infinitely large black hole? Science works by proving it's self wrong. What if green unicorns, having eaten chicken korma, induce retrograde motion in the satellites of Saturn? Science works by asking meaningful questions. Endy0816
I'm leaning towards a Big bang - Big Rip - Big Bang progression at the moment. Like a soap bubble that forms, expands and pops, but as it pops sets the conditions for more soap bubbles to form. Avoids the cross Universe interaction issue. Any distance to anything is infinite in the "above" Universe but at the same time in some sense it still exists(such as one can call that state existence). Kind of like the Universe as a Phoenix view, but without the need for a Universe Recycling Program. Edited July 18, 2014 by Endy0816
sunshaker
I still like the idea of our universe in "freefall", Passing through lower and lower energy fields/shells, Each time the universe enters a lower energy field is like another "big bang/expansion", Quickly expanding in this lower energy field drawing in this lower energy/dark energy, Which inflates the universe breaking down and stretching the old matter through the web of vortexs/blackholes. Showing universe falling through energy fields, A, First enters field. B, Expansion within lower field.
