xyz123abc Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 (edited) Hey there In my country and region (Nicaragua, Central America) winter hasnt come this year. It is off by three months. This hasn't happened in almost forty years. Where can I find information about this topic? I am interested in a discussion or publication by serious academics who try to explain what has happened so far this year, and a pronostic for the remaining of the year. Maybe a US forum/institution talking about this topic? Unfortunately, politics in my region are corrupt, and official professionals are usually just average joes leading quizzical institutions. Thanks for your help Edited August 5, 2014 by xyz123abc
Acme Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 (edited) Try this article: >> El Niño already making its mark on Latin America Searching 'El Niño 2014 Central America' gives numerous other articles. >> El Niño 2014 Central America @ Yahoo Edit: Typo Edited August 5, 2014 by Acme
xyz123abc Posted August 7, 2014 Author Posted August 7, 2014 (edited) BUT that article says nothing I can't read in a newspaper!
I don't need economic estimates. I don't care who the drought is affecting
I am interested in the background of this current drought itself in Central America, specially because, as I understand, it is still not an effect of the "El niño" which is currently developing.
I hope to find a discussion, or class, by meteorologist about this year's events, and maybe an hypothesis on how it will develop short-term. I am seeking METHEOROLOGICAL DATA AND MODELS, Thanks Edited August 7, 2014 by xyz123abc

I am seeking METEOROLOGICAL DATA AND MODELS, Thanks It would help the discussion if you would give references to support your comment, 'as I understand'. We can hardly be expected to know if you misunderstood or not if we aren't privy to your sources. PS No need for the all caps.

xyz123abc Posted August 13, 2014 Author Posted August 13, 2014 Ah, Mr. Acme. My previous comment addressed your suggested link: http://eyeonlatinamerica.wordpress.com/2014/07/31/el-nino-latin-america I appreciate your feedback! But it is not what I am asking for. Let me know if you find it, still looking for it! Thanks.
Acme Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Ah, Mr. Acme. My previous comment addressed your suggested link: http://eyeonlatinamerica.wordpress.com/2014/07/31/el-nino-latin-america I appreciate your feedback! But it is not what I am asking for. Let me know if you find it, still looking for it! Thanks. Roger; you're welcome. Since climate refers to long term conditions/trends of weather, then variations of weather in time & space (region) are to be expected. Looking at climate models to predict specific weather events is the wrong approach in my humble opinion. Let us know if you find otherwise.
