tentacle Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 what do you think about "findings"(?) of fossils inside the meteroite, are they for real? I search about astronomy in general then i stumble on these sites. http://sdcc3.ucsd.edu/~ir118/Leiden2010/Hoover_JOC_MS.pdf http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/badastronomy/2011/03/05/has-life-been-found-in-a-meteorite/#.VABZ7cV_v-t https://microbewiki.kenyon.edu/index.php/Bacterial_Fossils_in_Meteorites http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2292042/Second-study-finds-extra-terrestrial-fossils-meteor-fragment.html im mean recently we found plankton living outside of space station...
fiveworlds Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 (edited) I still think the best way to prove life on other planets is to put life on say mars for example. http://www.mars-one.com/ Edited August 29, 2014 by fiveworlds
Ophiolite Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 what do you think about "findings"(?) of fossils inside the meteroite, are they for real? The objects found may be evidence of life, but the evidence is inconclusive. Even if they are the remains of once living organisms, contamination by terrestrial forms cannot be ruled out in some of the instances. But there are also more mundane explanations for the observations. We need something much more solid than what has been turned up so far before we can have any high level confidence in the positive conclusions. However, it is good that some researchers continue to look for evidence, given the huge significance if they find it. 2
Strange Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 I still think the best way to prove life on other planets is to put life on say mars for example. http://www.mars-one.com/ That's cheating: "Is there life on Mars?" "There is now!"
imatfaal Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 what do you think about "findings"(?) of fossils inside the meteroite, are they for real?.... probably not - here is Phill Platts take on the article http://www.slate.com/blogs/bad_astronomy/2013/03/11/meteorite_life_claims_of_fossils_in_a_meteorite_are_still_wrong.html 1
tentacle Posted August 29, 2014 Author Posted August 29, 2014 i also concluded that evidences are inconclusive but i wanted to hear you guys. i was so thrilled when i found those site.
