vitality00 Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 How is magnetism caused for a single particle/atom, do all single particles have a magnetic field (proton, neutron, electron)
swansont Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 All fundamental charged particles with spin have a magnetic moment. The magnetic field of composite particles depends on the particles that comprise them and what state they're in. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spin_magnetic_moment The classical analogue is a charge moving and enclosing an area, but it's QM so one can't tie this into any movement or charge distribution.
