mitosis and meiosis

Just wondering if there is a difference between mitosis and meioses when viewed through a slide?

Where will I see the difference? Would it be in Meiosis I with the elongated prophase I, where the difference will occur? What will I see in the leptotene, zygotene, pachytene, diplotene, and diakinesis will be more noticeable? (By the way these are part of Meiosis I)

And what is the difference, on a visual base when viewing the difference of Meiosis I and Meiosis II?

Sounds like somebody's lab homework. You should be able to at least guess some of the differences if you have an understanding of the differences between mitosis and meiosis.

Was for a lab. The difference in my mind was that you would see crossing over of the chromosome (bunny ears) in middle prophase I for meisos I. While nothing like that for mitosis. Now wondering can you see the difference in the number of chromosomes between the two (mitosis and meisos)? Wouldn't work i think because of different chromosome numbers counts...

Run the risk if naming my sections: leptotene, zygotene, pachytene, diplotene, and diakinesis, better to name by early, mid, and late phases.
