I have met two grown adult Americans who thought - firmly believed, took for granted - that bananas were manufactured. And that's just the ones I found out about. It's not a question that comes up a lot, y'know, so what's the actual percentage? It startled me - like meeting people who think helicopters would fly on the moon, but you wouldn't need them because there is no gravity in space - it reminded me of the depth of what I don't know about the world other people live in. As far as "processed", it's not a technical term - is anyone actually confused by what it is referring to in any given context?
