Mr Rayon
It is now summer and time to slip-slop slap (at least in Australia). This means putting on sunscreen but I am worried that if I wear sunscreen and then choose to eat something I will get sunscreen on my food. If I do get some sunscreen on my food as I touch it, could I die? What is the probability? Has anyone ever died because of this? Should I just not put sunscreen on when I think I will eat after a few moments after putting it on? Also, does wearing sunscreen on your skin greatly diminish your body's ability to make vitamin D from the sun?
AndresKiani
No you won't die and no it won't block all the radiation that you supposedly need.
Ophiolite
On another thread you asked about dying from accidentally swallowing a small amount of toothpaste. Is there something you are not telling us?
ajb
I imagine that you would have to eat a vast amount of sun cream before any ill effects become apparent. It it were dangerous in small amounts it would not be approved to rub all over yourself and would come with some kind of warning. Well, it may well come with a warning not to eat it, I have seen such warnings on all kinds of things. The worse I could see happening is your food will taste funny. With the vitamin D thing, the answer is yes and there has been an increase in children with a vitamin D insufficiency due to over protective parents worried about skin cancer. Endy0816
Looks like nausea and vomiting are the only marginally possible risks. I'm sure there are some more extreme ones if you seriously chow down on a tube, but that isn't terribly likely.
