Science social media & blog sites?

Hi. I'm looking for a large/popular social media site that specializes in science where users have a blog, forum discussions, and can make friends. Any recommendations?

 

I've seen some amazing social sites where the home page shows a list of recent blog posts, discussion posts, short comment blasts from users, latest photo & video uploads. Really nice, but I haven't seen anything like that for the science community. I would love to join such a network.
